Renewable Energy Jobs in Sub-Saharan Africa and India 2022

The Energy Access Workforce to learn how decentralized renewable energy (DRE) job growth bounced back from the devastating COVID-19 pandemic. The sector continued to create good and meaningful employment in sub-Saharan Africa and India since the last census (2019). The report provides a comprehensive overview of employment in the DRE sector, including skill levels, training opportunities, compensation, participation of women and youth, and job retention. It is based on a survey of more than 350 companies and numerous focus groups across five countries: Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Nigeria, and Uganda.
